The purpose of the Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design, pathway in Media Design is to train specialists who are capable of combining the art of programming for websites, mobile and fixed devices, and installations with creativity. They are confident in employing all kinds of media and languages as well as new extended reality technologies, applying them to the different spheres of contemporary visual communication and the creation of interactive products.

There are 60 places available for first-year students majoring in Graphic Design. Of these places, there is no specific number assigned by pathway or language.

Objetivos

The methodology is based on “learning by doing” and fosters interdisciplinarity between the areas of design, fashion, and management for creative industries through workshops and common projects. and yearly projects, as well as the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary manner on the thesis project. The program provides a structured core curriculum, providing incremental learning goals to the students throughout the four years, leading to the thesis or degree final project for real companies.

The first year of the course is focused on the acquisition of the basic concepts of design, culture and the project methodology. It teaches students to dare, to create and to communicate. Students will also begin to dominate basic design tools.

The second year focuses on web platforms, technological and project tools are studied. Students focus on developing knowledge on programming, digital communication and interaction, and will learn to apply a production methodology to create aesthetic and visual pieces. Students are introduced to visual coding and digital art, as well as the use of online resources to solve problems and develop simple audiovisual pieces through the use of programming tools and platforms.

During the third year, focused on apps and wapps, students begin to gain experience with companies, and to undertake more technical and complex projects by way of prototypes and real costs. Designs for multimedia strategy and digital platforms are carried out. In addition, students analyse and reflect on the evolution of communication and the audiovisual world, as well as its impact on the 20th and 21st centuries.

In the fourth year, students undertake a compulsory internship within a company and choose a professional specialisation. They also focus on interactive installations and extended reality (AR, VR and MR). A visual installation is developed and knowledge of specialized software is deepened. The resources that the internet offers to produce visual and inmersive projects, as well as to increase their visibility and promote them, are explored in depth. Finally, their final project (TFE) is carried out in collaboration with real companies.
