Dental professionals are increasingly recognising the importance of Paediatric Dentistry, a specialty dedicated to the care and treatment of children’s teeth from infancy through adolescence. Understanding this field is essential for dentists, as it supports the proper care of primary teeth and promotes the healthy development of permanent teeth. Primary teeth play a crucial role in chewing, speech development and aesthetics, while also maintaining the space needed for the eruption of permanent teeth. Their health is therefore essential for a smooth transition to permanent dentition and for preventing potential complications.
Paediatric Dentistry also encompasses the management of dental trauma and the treatment of oral diseases specific to childhood. Early intervention during the primary dentition stage can help prevent more complex dental problems later in life, contributing to children’s overall health and quality of life. In addition, behaviour management is a fundamental aspect of this specialty, equipping dental professionals with the knowledge and skills needed to address the specific needs of young patients and provide appropriate care.
This course is designed for dentists who wish to specialise in Paediatric Dentistry or update their knowledge in this field. Through a comprehensive, evidence-based approach, it aims to prepare students to deliver high-quality dental care to children, taking into account their specific needs at different stages of development.
